Sunbeam Music Video
What if summer was a drug you could take? That's the idea that inspired this psychedelic journey of a music video. While making this video we filmed on super 8, hand drew animations, created a commune on location in a sunflower field, filmed with vintage Russian lenses, and got kicked out of a meadow in Golden Gate Park because our film shoot disturbed the parents of a nearby four-year-old's birthday party.
"Sunbeam" is a summer dream of old San Francisco inspired by the hippie love-ins of the 1960s and the notion that love & friendship could be an act of political resistance. Come along with us, you miss 100% of the trips you don't take.
Sunbeam is a soaring ode to the warmth of summer; a joyous, upbeat wish to radiate that energy to the world around you. Pairing influence from late ‘90s Britpop with a warm California ocean breeze, Sunbeam sails on a reverb-drenched bed of mellotron strings and 60s backing vocals. Watch Subeam starting July 11, 2025.
Bio
The Revelator is a San Francisco based indie rock band. Fronted by the magnetic duo of vocalists J Skaggs & Marissa Cornelius, The Revelator pairs story-driven songwriting with the contagious passion of bands like The Decemberists.
Since their early exploration of acoustic freak-folk on A Radiation Leak, the band’s first EP, The Revelator has steadily honed their production and songcraft with each release. Their Year of the Breakup EP saw the band add drums to the mixture, and the subsequent Drum Machines are People Too marked their foray into incorporating electronic elements. While their instrumentation has evolved, they’ve never lost sight of their north star; incisive songwriting, that is darkly seductive in its determination to traverse the depths of the soul and reach the recesses many writers shy away from. This distinctive writing style makes them one of the most exciting voices to watch on the indie scene. The band’s 2021 Strange Times single saw them weave these elements into a tantalizing show of things to come. Their forthcoming debut LP delivers on this promise.
